In Exodus 35:5, God commanded Moses thus, _Take ye from among you an offering unto the Lord: whosoever is of a willing heart, let him bring it, an offering of the Lord; gold, and silver, and brass, ..._ To build the tabernacle, God’s people were called upon to pool resources together. That same pattern was repeated when David was preparing for the construction of the temple.
As the battle rages against Christianity in Nigeria, it is sad to observe that there is no dedicated pool of funds to initiate any protective measure for Christians. An attempt was made in 2014, but it was destroyed after Pastor Oritsejafor left office by some unscrupulous Church officials. In 2020, Christian Social Movement of Nigeria (CSMN) and National Christian Elders Forum (NCEF) collaborated to establish the Lay Faithful Trust Foundation so that a pool of funds can be available for the Church. Again, the same unscrupulous Church officials opposed it in March 2021. That opposition severely affected the performance of the Trust Foundation, to date.
As the US government withdraws its soldiers from Nigeria, it should dawn on Christians that our salvation is dependent only on God. However, _faith without works is dead._ As we pray, we need to commence political mobilization, organize meetings, engage the media space, support the brethren in politics, and put in place non-violent structures to protect and promote democracy in Nigeria. We should not forget that the crisis in Nigeria boils down to the contest between Democracy and Sharia ideologies. It is under Democracy that freedom of worship, freedom of choice, and freedom of expression is guaranteed. Presently, sponsors of Sharia ideology are placing tremendous pressure on liberty and freedom in Nigeria. For example, people can no longer travel freely and safely. That is not democracy.
We are by this Special Announcement, calling on all Christians to contribute funds to a common Christian purse for the purpose of Christian advocacy. We have a structure that was established as the socio-political arm of the Church, and we have brethren who are willing to work. Unfortunately, we cannot fund anyone or anything. Without funding, we can only talk, and talk, and ...
If Christians would consent and contribute a token sum of minimum N500.00 monthly, it would add-up to a substantial pool of funds. N500 monthly would not affect the family budget, neither would it impair tithe and offering in any Church. If anyone could give more, glory be to God. From these funds, we support persecuted Christians in IDP camps, and we hope to promote Christian advocacy.
The truth of the matter is that if we cannot fund Christian advocacy, we have no one to blame for whatever happens to either Nigeria, or the Church. We invite you, therefore, to become involved by contributing monthly and, more importantly, share this message.
